One year ends, another begins

It's been a busy year. I've managed to get some artwork created, some framed and sent out to shows, all while hosting various relatives from near and far. I don't anticipate quite as many visits in 2015 but that means more time for art. There are also some plans being made for traveling, to points near, far and farther yet. It is time to see if an even busier person can still get things done. I accept the challenge!

Busy times

The hummingbirds are back! There are two feeders with fresh concoctions right here in the back yard and two come over and fight each other for those, and for the flowers in the yard. Don't ask me the names of the flowers, I ain't the gardener!

I've been working through photos, scanning for my mother's 90th Birthday book. Almost done, but I took a day off to get back to "real" art...the messier kinds. Very refreshing and now I will have to alternate the photo project with completing and printing this one! I can do it!

Hard at work

I so enjoyed the process of hand-painting this plate I made a photo record of it. The mezzotint was a long and difficult challenge, and when I brought it as far as I could in black and white I realized that it would probably work better in color. I am very pleased with this girl who looks like someone from the Italian Renaissance! I'm calling this print "Genoa."

Good Times

Been having a good time this past weekend with family. Now it's back to reality, and I think mezzotint "C" will be the one I print for the International Mezzotint Society's 2014 Exchange.

By the way, my face in the above panorama (I have the camera) got sort of squashed so it's not the real me. But you get the idea of the party that was going on in my studio!!
